I have the honour to transmit for Your Lordship's informa-
-tion the enclosed copies of my correspondence with Admiral
Sir Arthur Moore on this subject.
The proposal made by the Admiralty
is that the estimated annual expenditure of £17 for the

maintenance of these graves should be met out of the funds
of the Colony: but, as I do not consider that this charge is
one which should properly be borne by the Colonial Govern-
-ment, while the Admiral does not consider that it should
be met by private subscriptions from Naval Officers and
from Ships' Companies, I should be glad if Your Lordship
will be good enough to enquire whether the Lords Commission-
